One day, not so very long ago, my preschooler(s) had
a meltdown. They had been introduced to Barbie.com
and Barbie Movies and Barbie’s Fashions and Barbie’s
Colonial House and….much, much more.
I had had enough. I say no more.
I looked ALL over the computer and found a
number of fun things for SMART kids to do.
I wanted my kids to learn how to read, how to write,
how to spell, how to count and how to THINK intelligent
thoughts. Barbie had taught my kids that SHOPPING
was everything and that getting a little bit of mud on
your shirts or getting ketchup on your nose is not “o.k.”.
I want my kids to learn to dance in the rain,
to make mudpies and to get down on the ground and
really look at frogs and salamanders. I want them to
see the world through the eyes of an inventor, an explorer,
a writer, a scientist, or a philosopher. My theme is:
Let them explore their world.
